B&W
Aluminium is a metal made for sound. Like steel strings and brass sections, in the right hands it can send the spirits soaring. Its combination of lightness, strength and stiffness is a godsend to engineers, including our own who have used the metal to create some of our sweetest-sounding drive units.

But we’re attached to aluminium for another reason. It looks – and feels – as good as it sounds. Few materials satisfy form and function with such liquid elegance. Whether it’s shining in sheets on an Airstream trailer, flowing around the frame of a Charles Eames chair, clinging to the body of an Aston Martin DB9 or sleekly, snugly safeguarding our sounds on an iPod, aluminium is the metal for modern living.

Which brings us to the B&W XT Series: speakers for music or home theatre use that encase leadingedge acoustic engineering in slimline aluminium cabinets. Audiophile performance and cultured, contemporary design, equally at home in traditional living rooms or modern apartments. The XT2 is a compact, two-way system. The XT8 is a full, threeway speaker. And the aptly-named XTC is a twoway system designed primarily for centre speaker use. Look, listen and lose yourself in admiration for the XT Series.

UK Magazine, Home Cinema Choice, Reviewed the Harman Kardon AVR255

UK Magazine, Home Cinema Choice, recently reviewed the Harman Kardon AVR255 leaving the editor confident in stating that the design of the AV receiver should win points for style.

"From the technical side, the Harman Kardon AVR255 supports Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS-HD Master Audio and DTS-HD HR.  Moreover, the receiver provides multichannel-audio with 7 x 50W amplifiers, and multichannel input with 7.1-channel analog inputs.  The product also provides a unique feature, Faroudja DCDi Cinema video processing.  Faroudja processing gives a standard PAL signal up to 1080p more resolution, and its DCDi technology means that - unless having a top-flight scaling disc-spinner or very high-end projector - the AVR255 scaler will give the best result from a standard-definition source.  The sound quality of the AVR255 is, even at its highest volumes, never distracting, and only persuades users to use all of the power reserves."

Labs Conclusion:  "The AVR255 is one of the most affordable Harman Kardon receivers to feature Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio decoding and Faroudja DCDi Cinema video processing to 1080p.  The AVR255 acquits itself well, with performance well over spec on most two-channel and five-channel tests, as well as fidelity firewall and frequency response tests.  And the design is terrific."
